BusinessFlare® GIS — FAQ
What is this?
BusinessFlare® GIS is a free, self-serve mapping workspace for Florida economic development. This whiteboard is the master map — every city, county, and CRA we’ve built is on it. Open any one to get parcels, data layers, and instant export — no GIS department, no waiting.
How do I open a specific city, county, or CRA?
Click its marker on the map, or use the search / dropdown at the top to jump straight to it. Each opens its own full interactive page.
What’s the difference between the city maps and the CRA maps?
City and county maps cover the whole jurisdiction. CRA maps focus on a Community Redevelopment Area boundary — and, where applicable, its Amendment 3 tax-impact model. Some places have both.
What can I see on the whiteboard itself?
Statewide reference layers — CRA boundaries, our covered cities, and rotating features like the Layer of the Week and the live “Today” news feed. The detailed parcel-level data lives inside each individual map.
What can each individual map do?
Parcel-level tax roll (owner, land use, value, homestead); color parcels by land use, ownership, value, or public ownership; search any parcel by folio number; drop a pin or draw a boundary to get area stats — parcels, value, jobs, businesses, population, income, and traffic; toggle economic and infrastructure overlays; and export to PDF or PNG in one click.
Does every map have identical layers?
The core layers are the same everywhere.
Some projects also include project-specific layers built for a particular engagement — a downtown study area, trade-area rings, a site anchor, custom districts, or zoning / future-land-use. So a given map may show extra layers that others don’t.
How current is the data?
Parcel and tax-base data come from the latest certified county rolls (2025 where published; 2026 not yet released). Jobs are LODES 2023, demographics are ACS, and every other layer cites its source and vintage in the map popups.
Do I need an account or a subscription?
No — no login, no subscription, nothing to install. This is the “no permission” toolkit: the maps and analysis an economic developer would normally have to request from another department, available on demand.
I don’t see my city — can you add it?
We add cities continually. Request one through Street Economics at streeteconomics.ai.
Who’s behind it?
BusinessFlare® and Street Economics.
